05/19/08 FERC Notice of Intent to Prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (pdf)
Construction of pipeline facilities is regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Office of Pipeline Safety. Florida Gas Transmission will file an application with the FERC for a certificate of public convenience and necessity to move forward with the Phase VIII Expansion. Before beginning any installation, the company must receive FERC approval and all necessary federal, state and local permits.
Prior to filing an application with FERC, Florida Gas Transmission will participate in a pre-filing process that involves interaction with all the project stakeholders. As part of the pre-filing process, the company plans to hold informational open houses for landowners and interested local officials. After the application is filed, the FERC will then evaluate the application, make recommendations and issue its decision.
In addition to FERC regulations, FGT works closely with many other governmental entities on a Federal, State, and Local basis to ensure that all aspects of the FGT project are safe and secure.

- The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)
- The United States Department of Transportation - Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA)
