PANHANDLE ENERGY
ANNOUNCES RESULTS OF OPEN SEASON

HOUSTON - February 7, 2006 -Panhandle Energy today announced that the open season for the expansion of its Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Company natural gas transmission system generated requests for over 1 billion cubic feet of capacity.

"We are extremely pleased with the level of interest expressed, which mirrors the strong demand for Panhandle Eastern capacity we’ve been experiencing,” said Rob Bond, president and chief operating officer of Panhandle Energy. “Open season participants were a healthy mix of producers, utilities, end users and marketers who submitted bids representing solid, realistic expectations of terms and conditions for the expansion. This reinforces our belief that the industry is eager for this type of expansion."

Based on the results of the non-binding open season, Panhandle Eastern will refine the scope of the project and begin working with interested shippers. Several potential participants have asked to submit late responses. Panhandle Eastern plans to accommodate late submissions in accordance with the open season guidelines. Interested parties should contact Coralie Carter Sculley at 713.989.7646.
